Thought for Friday September 12

How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
For a sun and a shield is the LORD God;
grace and glory he bestows;
The LORD withholds no good thing
from those who walk in sincerity.
How lovely is your dwelling place, Lord, mighty God!
Luke 6: 39 – 42 Why do you notice the splinter in your brother’s eye, but do not perceive the wooden beam in your own?

What faults in others bother me the most? Do they remind me of my own sins?

Action: The next time somebody does something that you think is really bad, ask yourself if you have ever done anything similar.

Ah, Jesus addressing the hypocrites! We've all met them - the "holier than thou" people who talk the talk, but don't do the walk, refer to Jesus like He lives in the duplex next door, but will gossip and stab you in the back to elevate themselves. Jesus sure covered every human sin and failing with a warning and a plan for eternal life with Him. Have you ever noticed that the majority of hypocrites present themselves as devout followers? Challenge yourself in taking responsibility for the wrongs that you do, striving to correct your own flaws, compassion for the struggles of others, and keep those 2 x 4 pieces of lumber out of your eye. Arrogance and pride are the downfalls. Humility and owning up to your flaws is where it's at. -JW
